Building trust and relationships with my clients is key

Stuart worked closely with us to renovate an Edwardian house near Alexandra Palace in north London. The house hadn’t been touched since 1960 and was a complete mess. Stuart listened carefully to what we wanted, then presented us with some imaginative options which helped us visualise how the house could be transformed. As a result, we now have a house that cleverly uses every bit of space, maximises light and good views, and that also marries its many original features with a contemporary feel.

The kitchen extension is a real success. Due to planning constraints we couldn’t have the usual full-width extension that most people opt for. But Stuart noticed a particuarly lovely view to the side of the house, and proposed bi-fold doors going down one side of the kitchen, which open out onto a decked area with interesting planting. This is our favourite part of the house – where even in London we look out over big skies, have fantastic views and can watch the sun set.

Stuart is an easy person to work with and it was a huge help to me that he struck up a good relationship with the builders. They respected him and commented on how clear his drawings were to follow. I enjoyed working with Stuart and highly recommend him.

Stuart was pleasant to deal with and very helpful throughout the project, especially in achieving planning consent for the rear extension that I wanted for my hydro therapy pool. He was good in negotiating the price from the contractors and in dealing with them during the building work. He was always accessible and answered questions quickly. He has excellent design ideas and a good knowledge of where to get well designed things.

I thought he was worth his weight in gold.
